LS 105 Basic Computer Skills - FULL

Schedule:  4 weeks, August 20 - September 10

Fees: $10.00 to be paid at the FBC office to reserve your place

Course Description:  This class is the first in the series of computer classes and will start with the basics of turning your computer on, learning toolbars, and interacting with all those dialog windows. We will show you how to organize where you save your files so it is easy to find your information. This class will cover the basics of what an operating system does versus how the Office applications may perform. Safely navigating the Internet and finding things you were searching for on the internet will round out the topics discussed in this first series.

Homework:  None

LS 115 Basic Microsoft Word - FULL

Schedule:  4 weeks, September 17 – October 8

Course Description:  Learn the basic skills to operate Microsoft Word.

Course Description:  Learn the basic skills to operate Microsoft Excel.

Instructors:  Doug Fox and Brian Nicholson.   Doug Fox is the Production Planner at Donaldson Co.  Brian Nicholson has worked as an information technology specialist since 2000, and currently serves as Faith’s IT Manager.

LS 107 What’s New in MS 2007

Schedule:  2 weeks, November 12 – November 19

Fees:  $10 to be paid at the FBC office to reserve your place

Course Description:  This short class is designed for those that are familiar with Office 2003 and need to see the changes in Office 2007.  This is a high level overview of what is new in Office 2007, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. It is designed for people that have upgraded from Office 2003 or are planning to in the near future.

LS 217 Preparing for Job Interviews

Course Description:  If you have been considering applying for a new job or changing careers this class is a great way to brush up on your interviewing skills and have an advantage over the competition.  This class will cover everything from your clothing, to etiquette, to answering those tough interview questions.  Find out what employers are looking for and how you can set yourself apart.

Instructor:  Diane Imel.  Diane Imel is an owner of the Christina & Co. Education Center in Lafayette and serves in various ministries at Faith.

LS 150 Building a Quality Resume

Schedule:  3 weeks, September 10 – September 24

Fees:  No Cost

Course Description:  This course teaches the purpose of a resume and the different types of resumes.  Participants will learn best practices regarding resume writing.  Time will be allotted for questions and individual resumes will evaluated.

Homework:  2 – 4 hours of homework per week

Instructor:  Lee Morrison.  Lee Morrison is a Residential Life Manager at Purdue University and holds a master's degree in education from Purdue University.

LS 103 Basic Photography

Schedule:  4 weeks, October 1 – October 22

Fees:  No Cost

Course Description:  The purpose of this course is for individuals to become familiar with terminology used in photography as well as to become comfortable using their digital cameras.  Sessions will cover:  terminology of photography, understanding your camera and its functions, proper composition and lighting of a photograph, storage and organization of digital files, and simple digital manipulations.  God has created a world to be explored and family and friends to be loved and appreciated; what a better way to capture these memories than in photographs that you will be able cherish for years to come.

Instructor:  Brian Crussel.  Brian Crussel is the owner and photographer of Personal Touch Portrait Studios here in Lafayette, which has been in business for nearly 25 years.  Brian speaks across the United States to other professional photographers and is working towards his "Craftsman" degree.

BC 202 Basics of Helping Others

Schedule:  7 weeks, August 20 – October 1

Fees:  No cost

Course Description:  This will be a basic counseling class in which some of the fundamentals of biblical counseling will be presented.  This will occupy the first half of the class.  This will be followed by teaching some basic counseling principles which are applied to marriage.

Homework:  Simple Assignments

Instructors:  Dr. Bob Smith and Rob Green.  Bob Smith, M.D. retired, is Chairman of the Deacons at Faith.  Rob Green is the Pastor of Counseling and Seminary Ministries at Faith.
